Nowadays, most businesses are online. Good headshots are super crucial for coaches, online teachers, professionals, freelancers and entrepreneurs. Our human nature is to buy from people we like. It’s worth going the extra mile to get great headshots to entice your customers and build trust. So here are the 7 dos and don’ts to help you to get better results.
1) Do use a photo of yourself even it’s not perfect.

Don’t use a logo, graphic or your pet’s picture. We want to do business with real people.
2) Do use a photo that shows your face well.

Don’t use a picture with sunglasses or a big hat covering too much of your face. Or anything that doesn’t show your face. Ex: Only show your back or a silhouette.
3) Do use the same headshot picture across different social media.
It helps people to identify you and follow you on various social media. Don’t use random photos that could confuse people about your brand.
4) Don’t use a background removed photo (100% pure white).

It looks like a passport photo. Do try out different backdrops or backgrounds but keep it look clean and simple.
5) Don’t use a holiday (vacation) photo unless your business is about holidays and vacations.

Do use an image that tells the story about what you are selling.
6) Do use a photo that could evolve the curiosity about what you do.

Don’t use an image that makes people curious about you in a way unrelated to what you are selling.
7) Do use your professional headshot photo for your Facebook profile photo if you use your personal Facebook account for networking.
Don’t use your family or your children’s image unless your business is family-related. Because your profile photo will be exposed to networking groups with thousands of people; your family photo will not be private anymore.
