I want to share a secret with you.
I’ve been a pro photographer for going on 8 years now. When I was first starting to take my own headshots for my business branding, I used to use my Canon DSLR camera and spent tons of time taking photos myself. I had to go back and forth to the camera and check the pictures to see if they looked right, not to mention that I had to import the photos to my computer for editing and before I could post them.
The whole process takes up too much of my time. It put me off taking my own headshots. I realise my energy and efforts are better used as a direct line to support my clients.
I was looking for an easier and quicker way, so I started to experiment using my smartphone to take my headshots. And boom! I was amazed the quality of the photos from my smartphone is so good! If I don’t put 2 photos together looking side by side with my critical photographer eyes, honestly, I wouldn’t notice the difference between a smartphone and my Canon DSLR camera.
I’m happy to say I’ve learned a lot about taking my own headshots with my smartphone and I’d like to share some tips with you.
